10 Tricks for Smoother Body Skin
With this beautiful summer weather, many of us have the urge to show off a little skin. But it’s harder to have fun in your summer body with rough and bumpy skin. Not to worry! We’ve compiled a list of the best tricks to help you achieve smoother body skin.
1) Daily Exfoliating
Exfoliating your skin should always be the first thing you do in your quest to get smoother skin. When you exfoliate, you buff out dirt, oil, dry skin, and other impurities that contribute to having rough skin. Whether it’s in the shower with a loofah or a dry brush, you can never go wrong when you exfoliate.
2) Avoid Hot Showers
Hot showers may feel great, but they’re not great for your skin. Hot or steamy showers open up pores and wash away natural oils and moisture. The longer you shower, the worse it gets. By the time you step out, your skin has become dry and crinkly. Instead of taking a hot shower, try showering with lukewarm or cool water.
3) Use Specially-Formulated Soaps
There are many different soap and body wash brands that are specially formulated to moisturize your skin as you wash. Many of these soaps contain natural moisturizers like cocoa butter and different types of oils. These soaps can help you retain your moisture even after you exit the shower. This will leave your skin feeling smooth and soft.
4) Moisturize Daily
Unfortunately, moisturizing soap isn’t enough to keep your skin supple and smooth throughout the day. You’ll also need to rely on actual moisturizing creams or lotions to provide your skin with 24-hour moisture. Be sure to read the label and find a product that works for your skin type.
5) Exercise
Believe it or not, regular exercise doesn’t just offer you a healthier lifestyle, it can also contribute to smoother, more even skin. When we talk about the body, we often refer to the various parts individually, but we must remember that everything is connected. So when you are doing daily exercises, the positive effect it has on the heart and lungs will also appear on the skin and face.
6) Eat Healthily
Just as with exercise, eating a balanced diet can go a long way in creating healthy and smooth skin. Foods with healthy fats directly contribute to healthy skin. This includes fatty fish like salmon and mackerel, Avocados, walnut and sunflower seeds, broccoli, bell peppers, even sweet potatoes. Most of these foods are high in omega-3 fatty acids which are crucial in maintaining healthy skin.
7) Stay Hydrated
Dehydration is one of the main culprits in having dry, rough skin. When you are dehydrated, your body does not have enough water to flush out toxins. This can lead to skin conditions beyond just having dry skin. You run the risk of developing eczema, psoriasis, wrinkles, chafing, and more. Provide your body with enough water and it is sure to thank you.
8) Use Sunscreen
Nothing dries out the skin more than the sun. When unprotected, the sun can seriously damage the skin by drying it out, causing wrinkles, and creating scaliness. To avoid this, you must use sunscreen. Sunscreen will act as a barrier between your skin and the sun’s harmful rays. Be sure to apply a generous amount each time you step outside regardless of the forecast or the time of year.
9) Don’t Smoke or Excessively Drink
Smoking and drinking is a good way to prematurely age your skin. These substances age you significantly by causing premature wrinkles, dry and brittle skin, yellowing, and more. It’s best to simply avoid smoking and drink in moderation, If you do smoke, once you quit, your skin may regain some of its youth.
10) Try Cosmetic Treatments
