Get Enough Rest
Getting enough shut-eye does more than keep you from being irritable. Seven to eight hours of sleep per night, depending on your age, is recommended. Your skin is actively renewing cells and regulating fluids while your mind is relaxing. So stay away from devices in the bedroom for a more pleasant night’s sleep. Also, sleeping on bedding made of clean cotton will allow your skin to breathe.
Kick Back and Shut Out Stress
Maintaining healthy skin requires a healthy mentality. Stress is the silent cause of a wide range of skin problems, from acne to chronic disorders like psoriasis. While it’s impossible to prevent stress entirely, you can keep your skin healthy by managing it. Regular exercise is an excellent strategy to reduce stress and maintain a healthy complexion. Even something as basic as going for a walk around the block might have a significant influence.
Consume a Well-Balanced Diet
Take charge of your skin by eating foods that feed it. Crash diets essentially shock your system and are ultimately bad for your skin, so replace them with a consistent diet rich in fresh fruits and vegetables to heal conditions like eczema. Don’t let the chilly weather keep you from wearing sunscreen. Even though you can’t feel the sun’s rays on your face, the sun’s rays are intense all year and can result in sun-damaged skin. Apply sunscreen with at least SPF 30 to your skin every day, rain or shine. Sunscreen’s anti-aging properties are unrivaled. More importantly, using sunscreen on a daily basis reduces the chance of major skin problems such as skin cancer.
Moisturize Often, but Stay Hydrated
A jar of moisturizer isn’t enough to keep your skin hydrated. Staying hydrated is just as important as applying moisturizer to keep your skin smooth. Drinking at least eight glasses of water each day helps your skin to hydrate and mend itself naturally. Try adding lemons, berries, or even cucumber slices to your water if you prefer flavored drinks. The light flavor will entice you to drink more while providing additional nutrients.
Remember to Go for a Spot Check
The greatest time to get a skin check-up is in the winter. Because your skin is typically at its palest during the winter, uneven patches that suggest sun damage or skin cancer are more obvious.
