Sculptra Aesthetic vs. Juvederm. Which Treatment Is Right for You?

If you’re reading this, you’re probably thinking of getting cosmetic injections to help you look younger. Great! There are numerous dermal filler types open to you. You can select between Juvederm and Sculptra injections to get rid of wrinkles. Both of these medications function in different ways, but they can only be obtained from a licensed specialist.

What to Know About Sculptra vs. Juvederm

What Is Sculptra?

Sculptra is a Poly-L-lactic collagen injection. Collagen production decreases as you age, causing the skin to lose suppleness. Collagen loss causes wrinkles, drooping skin, and even joint pain since it functions as a scaffolding to give structure to your skin and cartilage. Sculptra corrects wrinkles naturally with long-lasting results by restoring missing collagen. Only around the nose and mouth is this injection administered, and it may take up to three sessions to observe full wrinkle reduction. The results of Sculptra injections can endure for two years or longer.

What Is Juvederm?

Hyaluronic acid is injected into the skin during the Juvederm treatment. This compound can last up to a year and fills in wrinkled areas, making lines on the face appear less prominent. Juvederm comes in two variations. Juvederm XC and Juvederm Voluma XC are the two options available. Both Juvederm Voluma XC and Juvederm Voluma XC are designed to smooth out deeper creases and wrinkles while Juvederm Voluma XC is best used for injections in the cheeks. To fill out smile lines, Juvederm XC is best used around the lips and nose. The effects of Juvederm XC persist for a year after the original injection, but you can get touch-ups to keep your youthful appearance.

So Which Is Best for Me?

Although both Juvederm XC and Sculptra treat lines and wrinkles around the mouth and nose, the best injection option for you will depend on your goals and how long you want the treatment to last. If you want to add volume to your cheeks, Juvederm Voluma XC is the only option. If you want to reduce wrinkles around your nasolabial folds for two years and don’t mind three injections, Sculptra is a better option. Although Juvederm XC only requires one treatment, the results don’t last as long as Juvederm.

To generate volume, Juvederm injects a gel-like substance into the area beneath the skin but has no effect on the formation of collagen in your body. Sculptra, on the other hand, does not “fill” the space beneath your skin; rather, it works with your body to increase natural collagen production. However, if you have skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, or any other dermatitis, consult with a dermatologist first, as dermal fillers can worsen the conditions.

Both Juvederm and Sculptura can help you attain a youthful, natural-looking appearance without the need for surgery. The filler that is ideal for you will be determined by the region to be treated, the expected results, and your personal preference.

How Soon Do I See Results?

Regardless of the filler you choose, you will see results immediately. As for the duration of results, that all depends on the density of the filler. Juvederm can last anywhere from 9 to 16 months. Sculptra can give you results that last up to 5 years. Newcomers to dermal fillers may prefer a less long-term solution. Additional maintenance treatment sessions might be used to extend the effects of either Juvederm or Sculptra.
