What Are the Differences Between Botox and Dysport?
Aging symptoms are distinct in everyone. You might find that your wrinkles are only noticeable in specific situations or from certain angles. Perhaps you can see your frown lines in your facial expressions in photos, or the lines around your eyes are more noticeable in the rearview mirror.
We’re all going to get wrinkles eventually. Although we can’t turn back the hands of time or reverse the effects of aging, injectables and fillers can make you look younger.
Botulinum toxin injections, such as Botox and Dysport, are primarily used to treat and prevent wrinkles. What’s the difference between Botox and Dysport, though?
What to Know About Botox and Dysport
What Are the Major Differences Between Botox and Dysport?
One of the most significant distinctions between the two is the locations in which Dysport and Botox are allowed for use.
Botox is used to treat smile lines, crow’s feet, and forehead lines. The quantity of Botox injections required depends on the area being treated and the desired results.
Dysport, on the other hand, is a name-brand prescription treatment specifically for glabellar lines that helps to smooth them out. When someone frowns, the lines between the eyebrows that extend vertically towards the forehead are called “glabellar lines.”
There’s also a small difference in their results. Dysport tends to deliver results faster than Botox. Dysport results can be seen in up to 2-3 days, whereas Botox results appear in 3-7 days. Botox has Dysport beat, however, when it comes to how long the results last. Dysport results typically last anywhere between 3-4 months. Botox, however, can last up to 6 months.
Are There Any Similarities Between the Two?
While Botox and Dysport can be used to address spasms caused by medical diseases such as neurological disorders, their primary purpose is to treat and prevent wrinkles.
Neither of these procedures will completely eliminate wrinkles, but they will make them less obvious, especially if at-home serums and creams are ineffective.
Although both treatments contain the same trace protein as their major constituent, the amount of protein in Botox and Dysport varies.
How Long Does It Take to Complete Each Procedure?
It takes only a few minutes to complete both processes. The aesthetician merely injects the designated site, waits a few moments, reviews the area, and you’re good to go! You can go home straight after the treatment unless there are any immediate negative effects.
Both of these injections can treat moderate to severe wrinkles effectively and temporarily. As we mentioned, Dysport injections may produce faster results, but Botox usually lasts longer. Both of these procedures will require follow-up injections to keep the results.
Results differ from person to person, as they do with most products and services. Now that you know the differences between Botox and Dysport, you should visit a dermatologist in both circumstances to determine which injection is right for you.
